Everybody asks me: "how did to take to this?" and I invariably answer: "I was attending the High School for hotel management in Giardini Naxos, when one day I saw in the school bar a glass-case with about 250 pieces. I would look at them every day, thinking how fantastic that collection was. So I decided to start one too, thinking I would never reach that number anyway. At that time I would also exchange items with the school’s barman, but he didn’t feel the same passion as when he just started, maybe due to his job’s or family responsibilities ".
Hoping I have not bothered anybody with this little story, I will add something about my present situation. Hallo everybody, my name is Giuseppe Savoca, I live in Francavilla di Sicilia and I work with my parents in our family hotel.
How I started collecting minibottles is now clear, and those 250 initial minibottles have now grown to a considerable collection. The items I like best are undoubtedly the Italian minibottles for the domestic and foreign markets. I am not particularly attracted by the newly produced items as they can be found in all collections – I better appreciate the minibottles with metal seals or other rare items. I am not totally against minibottles with plastic corks, as among these too there are often rare pieces: even if my collection is highly selected, it nonetheless contains some twenty plastic-cork items.
